 Surroundings

Sutivan is a charming, small and peaceful seaside village located on the north-western side of Brac Island shore. The tiny town grows up from its characteristic port and its many wonderful beaches towards the gentles hills of maritime pines and olive trees. Sutivan is caressed by the deep blue of the Adriatic sea and protected by a natural amphitheatre made of perfumed Mediterranean vegetation! Discover the narrow alleys and the hidden staircases of the old village built with the traditional stone-based Dalmatian architecture features. Follow the aroma of rosemary and lavender through the many biking and trekking paths of the Island. Explore the underwater life thanks to the diving centres that organize excursions every day, relax on one of the numerous beaches, rent a boat and discover the hidden bays and refresh yourself in the blue and clear waters of the Mediterranean.

Would you like to take a break in a place where your kids can play all the evenings without the worries of the cars, where almost all your needs can be satisfied just walking few steps, where urban modern lifestyle haven’t arrived yet? What do you think about tasting one of the best Extra Virgin Olive oil of the region? Or trying some remarkable red wines produced in Brac vineyards? Or savouring some tasteful Dalmatian recipes based on local fresh fish, meat, vegetables and fruit? Sutivan and Brac Island have all of this!

This very special place where time has stopped, where peace, nature and hospitality are still sovereign offers also all the basic services to make your vacation safe and pleasant. The first aid station, police station, veterinary clinic, dentist, post, supermarkets, restaurants, banks, garage, ferry boat harbour, buses, airport are all located on the Island.

 How to reach us

Sutivan has an enviable position for many reasons. It has a exceptionally mild climate and has all the features of a “Once Upon a time village” but it is extremely close by to all the services you need. Supetar, the main town of the Island, is just 8 km far away . Split, the main Dalmatina town is just in front of Sutivan and it that can be reached in 50 minutes from Supetar with a Ferry boat or in 15/20 minutes with a fast boat from Sutivan All the western part of the Island’s coast is 100% naturally preserved and offers many hidden and peaceful spots.

Split is connected with Europe and the world with these means:

Plane: International Airport Kastela (direct connections to main European destinations)

Train: Split train station (daily connections with Zagreb)

Ship: Split port (connections with various Croatian islands and Italy)

Bus:

Split Bus station (links to all major cities of Croatia, some destinations in Bosnia, Serbia and Slovenia)

Car: Split can be reached by highway A1 Zagreb-Dubrovnik

Jennifer M. - 13/05/2015

We (a group of 4 friends aged 21-22) stayed in the Bistrica ground-floor apartment for 2 weeks in August. The apartment is in an excellent position, directly across the road from the beach, with private parking. Sutivan town centre is only a 15 minute walk. The apartment was modern and clean and has a living room with two couches, a dining table, kitchen (complete with dishwasher), 2 bedrooms (small but with ample wardrobe space) and a large terrace with table, chairs and sun loungers that was useful both for eating outside and sunbathing. The owners were very friendly. Regarding Sutivan itself, it's a quiet village, with various beaches, ranging from pebble beaches to rocks (the shops in Sutivan sell shoes for the beach if you haven't brought your own). It also has two small mini-markets, a bancomat, various restaurants (pizzerie, fish/meat restaurants, kebab, etc.), a small harbor (with charter taxi boats taking you to Split), a bike/kayak rental service, and a couple of cocktail bars. For evenings we recommend Supetar or Bol which are livlier than Sutivan. We also recommend a car to explore the rest of the island, and to shop for food. We preferred the smaller lesser well-known beaches to the famous Zlatni-Rat beach in Bol, which was way too overcrowded (probably in other periods it is quieter). In general the restaurants are good and the prices very reasonable. We think Brac is an island suitable for family holidays or others not looking for an "Ibiza-style" holiday.
