 Surroundings

When you walk through Rome you often stop to observe a corner, a street, a detail of the city. You look around and admire the old buildings, the alleys, the large and majestic streets and you feel every place is telling you something. You wonder who has walked through the Piazzas, who has lived in the palaces, which intrigues, conspiracies were plotted in one of the many narrow streets of the centre. You wonder how the buildings were in ancient Rome, made of luxury and poverty, of great beauty and decay.

Our amazing apartment represents a key to answer some of these questions!
Inserted in a fairytale context, in one of the historical buildings of Rome, where once resided nobles, whose salons hosted feasts of princes and princesses, whose corners hid prohibited kisses, our apartment will guide you through a journey back to the past. Here the time has stopped: you will not need any imagination effort to feel part of a world that doesn’t exist anymore! You will have the opportunity to lodge in a large baroque style apartment with 2 bedrooms with painted walls and decorated ceilings, 2 bathrooms, a nice little kitchen, and large living room with a cosy terrace!
Colonna apartment will be the starting point of your journey through the past, the present and the future of the Ethernal City.

Beautiful apartment in best location. We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful apartment, it exceeded all our expectations. The location is absolutely ideal, we used the subway only two times during our 6 day stay. The apartment is very quiet without any car noise, located in a nice building. The owner put a tremendous amount of effort in the inside decor, a skilled painter must have spent weeks to decorate the walls and ceilings. The apartment is very spacious and was ideal for our family of 4 with 2 teenagers, since we had two large separate bedrooms and baths particularly the master bedroom and bath are very nice. The apartment is bright because of sufficient windows, which is not always the case for places in large cities. We didn't remember the outside patio being mentioned, so this was another nice surprise, we ate dinner outside a few times. The apartment is very well furnished, plenty of plates, an ironing board, lots of towels, toilet paper etc. etc. The kitchen is small, so elaborate dinners would be hard to cook, but it was fully sufficient for us. During really warm periods, the air condition doesn't reach the bedrooms well, there are small fans in each bedroom however that help. The WiFi is also a bit choppy at times.

Fantastic location and great apartment. Great apartment in perfect location in the middle of everything you would want to see in Rome. Only thing to be aware of is that the apartment is over two stories, and the stairs are very steep up to the main bedroom - would want to consider somewhere else if you had small children! Otherwise great apartment.

Live like a Roman! This apartment has a lot of character with special decorations and really gives you the feeling of being a local and not a tourist. A few points: - Really central location. Short walk to the Pantheon, Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. Both the Colosseum and the Vatican can be walked to within 30 minutes with wonderful things to see on the way. Piazza Navona is also a short walk away for restaurants and interesting night life. - This apartment is in a small courtyard off the Piazza Colonna. Look for the small cafe/gelato place and turn there. - The apartment is a good size for a family of four. The first bedroom has a narrower bed, so it was good for our children. The second bedroom is the master bedroom with an in-suite bath and a larger bed. The second bedroom is up a narrow, winding staircase so it might be more difficult to reach for older people and getting a big suitcase up there is not easy. - The kitchen is well stocked (e.g. microwave, hot water kettle, toaster), but tiny. It was fine for us as we only had breakfast in the apartment. - The owners provided a lot of amenities we do not often see when we rent a place (e.g. welcome food basket, paper towels, soaps everywhere, umbrella, etc..). - The courtyard entry has a doorman checking people during the day which definitely gave an added feeling of security. We felt very comfortable leaving things in the apartment. - there is also a private and quiet balcony where you can sit outside if you wish. - Gabriel always responded to my e-mails quickly and check-in/out went smoothly.

Kees V. - 13/05/2015

This was a very nice apartment. The two bedrooms are big and comfortable, and the main room had amply place for the rest of our group of 6. Two spacious bathrooms with bath and shower.. all this in the heart of old Rome. OK the place is not new, and the kitchen corner is small and a bit rustic. But overall this place is just fantastic, and in a very quiet courtyard although adjacent to the busy Via del Corso. We were warmly welcomed by Titijana who gave us an excellent briefing of the house and immediate surroundings. Bravo - we'd love to come back.

Sandra H. - 02/06/2015

“sehr zentrale, idyllische Wohnung” Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen; Obst, Kekse und Getränke waren in der Küche vorbereitet, die Wohnung ist sehr sauber gepflegt, auch die Terrasse im Innenhof ist groß! Wir hatten eine sehr angenehme Zeit dort - auch weil die wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten sehr schnell von der Wohnung aus zu Fuß erreichbar sind!!

Thomas R. - 05/07/2015

uiet place, clean and comfortable. The terrace is nice, even it is placed in interior court between other buildings. Stairs, one between the main entrance to the apartment and the other to access the upper bedroom, are not for very elderly people, not a real issue though. Clean bathrooms, well equipped, everthing as advertised. The interior lightning is not like in the photos, the place is rather dark. The WiFi did not work for us, refused to connect with the given password. The owners (or managers) Gabriel and Annalisa were very responsive with any inquiries we had, everything has been replied and cared quickly. We recommend this property warmly mainly for the very central position, couple of minutes to the mega-landmarks, Popolo, Spagna, Trevi, Venezia, Roman Forum, Navona, Pantheon, etc.

Deborah H. - 05/07/2015

Terrific location of historical apartment with roomy terrace. 2-15 minute walk to most everything you wish to visit and lovely views along the way! Management is very attentive to any questions or needs. The wifi didnt work 90% of our visit which made it challenging to manage our business back home. However the management went above and beyond to try and fix the issue...just one of those thing you have to roll with. The property as I said is very old which is part of the charm, though I could tell by the blackness of our feet it really needs a new cleaning staff. Bedding all needs updated with fresh linen and pillows for added comfort and appeal. That being said I would recommend this apartment on location and management alone.

Jackie P. - 05/07/2015

The location was perfect for our stay. From this location, we were able to walk to everything we wanted to see and do during our visit. The apartment looks out over a courtyard and has its own private terrace where we sat and enjoyed breakfast every morning and evening cocktails every evening. Our hosts supplied us with some pantry staples and breakfast items to being our stay which was much appreciated. The apartment itself is huge, with plenty of room. The steps up to the initial landing and then the second landing up to one of the bedrooms are very narrow and steep, so this is not an apartment for anyone with mobility issues. However, if you are willing and able to climb steps, the atomosphere within the apartment makes you feel like you are a resident and not a tourist in a foreign place.

Helga H. - 05/07/2015

We just loved that place! WE didn't find anything to complain about. As we couldn't be bothered to cook, the small kitchen was just right. Thanks to all of them.

Fabian S. - 05/07/2015

We had a great stay, the apartment is very well located and it was clean and neat on arrival, we were even received with some complimentary groceries which made our arrival easier and made us feel very welcome. AC only in the living room but the bedrooms have electric fans and even if the heat of early summer the bedrooms were cool at night. The clothes washer was a welcoming sight. We had 5 people stay in the apartment and we were comfortable, you could easily fit a sixth person in the apartment. Plenty of hot water in the shower and very quiet at night. I highly recommend the apartment to anyone visiting Rome. Fabian

Anonimous A. - 05/07/2015

Apartment is in a great location and offers ideal accommodation to enjoy the city. The accommodations was exactly as described and very clean. Owner was fantastically helpful offering advice on the local area as well as organising a taxi back to the airport. Overall we had a great trip!!

Antonella C. - 01/09/2015

Lovely apartment in a very convenient location. We were so central that we took breaks here throughout the hot days in Rome. My daughters loved the beautiful upstairs bedroom and it gave us a little privacy. The property manager was very punctual and professional and even provided a welcoming basket.

Liliana L. - 10/11/2015

Shannon T. - 10/11/2015

Three nights in Rome. Four adults, one child. Apartment was great. So much charm. You enter the apartment through a secure courtyard/parking area. It is like walking into a tranquil fortress in the midst of the hustle and bustle that is Rome. The staff (Tiziana) met us and showed us all we needed to know about the apartment and the vicinity. She was extremely accommodating to our schedule. She also set up our transportation to the airport which was very convenient. We all thoroughly enjoyed our short stay here. We most certainly and heartily recommend it to anyone and hope to visit again someday ourselves. Thank you! PS. Location is fantastic. Close to everything, grocery is a 3 to 5 minute walk.

This is a centrally located two-bedroom apartment about midway between the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon in the heart of Rome. Almost everything is within walking distance. Although the unit is only a few steps from the Via del Corso, a major street, it faces an interior courtyard and is relatively quiet (though you can hear your neighbors talking at times) as well as very secure. The unit is on two levels. Most of it is on the first floor (i.e., one flight above ground level), one bedroom and bath are on the second floor (one additional flight up). Both stairways are narrow, steep, and have sharp turns, the stairway to the upper bedroom especially so. For this reason I would not recommend this unit to anyone with mobility or balance issues, or to anyone who travels with large suitcases. That said, I was part of a group of four, all reasonably fit Americans in our 70s, all of whom pack light, and we had no difficulties whatever. The living room is large and comfortable, the kitchen tiny (we used it for little more than heating coffee), the bedrooms of ample size, the beds okay if nothing special. There's a nice little private terrace at one end of the living room. The bathrooms are adequate, though the upper shower lacks a hook to hold the flexible shower cord, a minor annoyance. The ceilings are low and arched, perhaps because the apartment exists in a space that was originally the upper part of a ground-floor room with a high vaulted ceiling. Someone has gone to the trouble of painting designs on the ceilings and wall, a nice touch. I agree with those reviewers who claim this is a dark unit; it doesn't get much sunlight. But there are plenty of lamps. While I would not describe this apartment as "elegant," it was clean and certainly serviceable, and it proved an excellent home base for our little group. I would add that the owner's rep, Tiziana, is a delightful person who provided good tips on neighborhood restaurants and the like.

Teresa G. - 04/12/2015

After renting the apartment I have received the contact information for Tiziana. I texted her from the airport. Unfortunately due to some bad taxi ride experience from Fiumicino airport, I could only call her when I got to the apartment. She still arrived very quickly. She gave a quick tour of the apartment. She told us about shopping places in the neighborhood. If you want to experience Rome in a Roman style apartment; this cozy place is the place to stay. Everyhing was clean and all amenities were in working condition. On my last day Tiziana even helped me arrange a surprise by making calls for me. It is always good to know someone who speaks English and Italian :)

Tapio S. - 02/04/2016

One week in Rome. This was fourth time to spend time in Rome and see all it again. Normally we stay at hotels, but now we decided to look for on apartment. And found the best! Nice and quiet, enough space for four people. And in the middle of everything! At the arrival we were told all important things to know, all payments went as agreed, schedules also as agreed. And we had driver (Gilberto) to meet us at the airport and to take us back after week. Service was excellent. We didn´t use outside patio at all because the weather in the end of March was too chilly. There was a mention about wi-fi; those thick walls are hard for any kind of wireless connection, router was in our bedroom and worked well there. All together - we enjoyed and liked to stay in this apartment, and when ever we return Rome we´ll keep this in mind!

Oscar M. - 08/05/2016

Excellent location, just a few blocks away from Trevi Fountain. There was an issue with the property address and we had to walk for 15 minutes with all our luggage but Giorgia was very nice and very helpful. We will definitely stay there again if we come back to Rome. Thanks!

Sandra H. - 03/06/2016

Location location location. A lovely, charming and unpretentious apartment with great location, with nearly everything in walking distance. The apartment could do with a little update, but it had what you need and we enjoyed that there was a small terrace. The kitchen small but usable with a good selection of kitchen accessories and we only need to make breakfast. Bed was nice to sleep in and the apartment appeared clean. You do need to be careful on the stairs, which is pretty steep, especially for the upper room. It would be helpful if there also was a banister to the second floor. 5 stars to Tiziana the check in manager who patiently answered all the questions we had and also took care that we got transport both to and from the airport on request. We had a lovely stay and can only recommend the apartment.

Sandra V. - 03/06/2016

The apartment is great,in the centre of Rome. Has a little terrace at the back. 2 good bedrooms, allthough you need to be able to climb a few stairs. Two good bathrooms and nice living area. We loved it and walked every where. Would certainly send our friends after the top bedroom mattres has been changed!

Julie M. - 10/07/2016

This apartment was perfect for our family. We were able to walk wherever we wanted to go! There was plenty of room for the 5 of us and we enjoyed some time relaxing on the back terrace. The apartment was spacious with 2 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and living room. The management arranged our taxi to the airport and was there waiting for us on arrival. I would definitely recommend this apartment!

Sarah M. - 10/07/2016

Adorable home with character for a duelling built in the 1500's! Perfect for any person fit to travel up & down a steep flight of stairs. We were 4 travelers 2 in our 30''s and 2 in there 50's. The stairs to the home and to the second bedroom are not for the elderly. Easy enough with out luggage, but my parents would not have been able to get there luggage up the stairs with out our help. For us in our 30's the stairs were no issue. Grateful for the snacks and drinks available upon arrival. Beds were comfortable and showers had good water pressure and hot water. Outdoor patio was great for relaxing after our day. The bakery and gelato shop right out our door was amazing. (Great recommendation Tiziana) It was coffee and breakfast every morning and dessert at night. Centrally located, walking distance to pretty much everything. Supermarket 3 minute walk away, taxi station right around the corner @ Zara's. Easily located for Uber pick-up. Would definitely stay again!

Regina S. - 10/07/2016

This was my fourth trip to Rome, but my first with another couple. I have only used VRBO once before, but I will definitely make it my first choice when planning my next trip. And this apartment will always be at the top of my list!!! The location was terrific, and easy to find at a main Piazza. The flat was very charming and had everything we needed. It was very spacious and clean. We each had plenty of privacy. It was also a bonus having transportation arranged for our arrival.

Raquel P. - 03/08/2016

Mel H. - 04/09/2016

Great location and the owners and Tiziana were very helpful and quick to respond. They helped us arrange transportation to and from the airport and had a connection for a tour that made things easy to arrange and offered us a discount on the booking. They also left items in the apartment such as coffee and snacks that really were a treat on our late night arrival. Nice terrace and laundry facilities were a useful convenience. Overall we had a wonderful experience. Thank you all for a memorable holiday!

Bill C. - 06/10/2016

This apartment is centrally located and convenient to just about everything in the city. The apartment was charming and cozy but spacious enough for our party. The patio was a nice respite at the end of the night with a glass of wine. We didn't need the air-conditioning during our stay as the fan in the upper bedroom was sufficient with the windows open. The stairs to the upper bedroom ARE tight but that made it all the more charming. The snacks were a welcomed sight after a long day of travel. We would stay here again!

Susanne k. - 06/10/2016

We had wonderful days really in the middle of rome - just some hundred meters distance by foot from many of the places we wanted to visit: Forum Romanum, Collosseo, Pantheon, Trevi. Even to Trastevere we went by foot, it was a nice walk... Just for our visit of Vatican Museum and St. Peter we used the Metro, which is also within walking distance. The appartment is placed in an ancient Palazzo, two levels, with a small terrace. It is not too big and a little bit dark, but nicely decorated and the air coditioning worked even in the hot august very well. And in contrast to the very busy neighbourhood with tourists and shopping people it was an oasis of silence to come here for siesta after sightseeing and before returning back to shops or restaurants!

Francois V. - 06/10/2016

Very clean apartment with all the necessary things to make your stay enjoyable. Highly recommended

Carolin K. - 06/10/2016

Great location. Within walking distance of the major attractions. Manager arranged transport from cruise ship and back to airport. She met us at the door and went over the workings of the place. Room for four of us. Clean but upstairs bathroom could use updating. Steep stairs to get to the first floor and very steep and narrow stairs to get to the second floor bedroom. I would recommend unless you have mobility issues.

Kerri H. - 06/10/2016

We arrived at the airport and were collected by the private transfer car we had arranged with the host prior to arriving. I would highly recommend this service as it saved us time looking for a taxi. When we arrived at the apartment Taziana was there to greet us. Taziana was friendly and extremely helpful. A lovely welcome. The apartment is in an ideal location and very secure. There were four of us (two couples) sharing the apartment and there was plenty of room for us all. An added bonus was the delightful terrace which was quiet and secure. The apartment had a lovely feel to it and was very clean. We visited most of the sights on foot and each morning had coffee from the coffee bar just outside the apartment. I would highly recommend this apartment and Charme Holidays to anybody looking to visit Rome. I would happily stay here again if I ever go back to Rome.

Kathrine H. - 06/10/2016

The apartment is in an excellent location near the government center and major attractions like Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and the Colosseum. Supermarket nearby, as well as a cafe downstairs. Great place to stay!

JANE C. - 07/11/2016

Was leery about booking an apartment rather than a hotel room but so glad we did. Perfect set up for 2 couples. Stairway leading up into apartment is a little hairy to negotiate with luggage but it worked out fine. Driver was awaiting us at the airport as well as manager at the door. Very clean, well decorated and well stocked with supplies. Kitchen adequate to do small meals but restaurants abound in the area. Perfect location with the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Tomb of Unknown all in walking distance. Definitely would recommend this apartment and the whole Home Away experience.

Fatima M. - 07/11/2016

Tiziana, our handler within HomeAway, was most gracious and helpful. Most appreciated. Regarding the apartment, was central, roomy, quiet and felt cosy and full of charm albeit wear out and in need of some repair

Monique L. - 05/12/2016

355 Via del Corso was exactly what we were hoping to find in Rome. The gate leading to the building's courtyard was on the Piazza Colonna. The apartment was very comfortable, VERY quiet, and close to the antiquities that we wanted to see. Each of our two couples had their own bedroom and bathroom. A common kitchen and living room completed the interior and there is a large private veranda that goes with it. 10 minute walk to the Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Roman Forum, and Colosseum. Five minutes to Trevi Fountain. We even walked across the Tiber to find a particular restaurant and that only took 30 minutes. And multitudes of shops and restaurants everywhere. Very reasonable and well-stocked. Bring your own soap and shampoo, but you don't need anything else. Great start to our Italy trip. Highly recommended.

Authentic 14th century charm in the best location. Kitchen is very small. Lovely apartment but stairs to the master bedroom are very small and windy.

Barbra T. - 01/06/2017

We really enjoyed staying in an authentic Baroque style historic palace. The location can't be beaten. The steep stairs were an issue for us. We were traveling for 3 weeks and our suitcases were very large and couldn't fit up the stairs to the second bed and bath.We really appreciated our snacks and all the recommendations! Thanks for a great Rome experience!

Super Lage, ideal für eine Städtereise.

Very spacious and centrally located apartment! This was our first time to Rome and it did not disappoint. We were walking distance from every attraction and part of town. The Trevi fountain was even right down the block. A perfect place in Rome!

Super charming property and great location. We were really worried that it would be dark inside, but were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful and huge the apartment is! And there is plenty of light. The terrace is huge also! The only minor negative for me was the very rough towels. But I think it's because they don't use dryers. Would definitely recommend!!

Perfect walking distance to major sites, quiet courtyard, very charming. Private transfer was on time (early, actually) and professional- which was crucial for us exhausted travelers with young kids. Rome was hot but this apartment stayed cool. Communication was excellent prior to arrival- I'd certainly recommend staying here to friends.

We loved our stay in this apartment. Communication was excellent and it was extremely comfortable for our extended family of 6. My husband and I took the upstairs bedroom and loved it. We are early 60s and had no trouble with the stairs. The patio is very private and pleasant. We all appreciated the history of the building and loved staying here!

Perfect way to start our trip to Rome Plenty of room for all of us, perfect location. Lovely apartment, and working with/communication with the renters was impeccable. Will be back!

An excellent apartment in a convenient location to discover Rome on foot. Colosseum, Spanish Steps and the Trevi fountain etc., all within a few minutes walk. The check in and check out were both efficient and the apartment had everything we needed for our short stay. Edoardo was very helpful and arranged our return transfer to the airport. The apartment is in a very nice part of the city and is very safe behind a closed courtyard. The outdoor space was an added bonus!

Charming Rome Holiday The apartment was very comfortable and the amenities were wonderful. The outside space was awesome to have, especially in the evening for a before dinner drink. The location was absolutely perfect for seeing Rome. We could walk to all of the major sites and food and drink were close by in every direction.

The property was in a perfect location near the heart of everything touristy. The photos are a little off. The kitchen isn't really much of a kitchen, but we didn't cook so all was ok. There is a tiny washer but no dryer. The shower head handle didn't stay in place so you have to hold it. The square footage was great. Most places in Italy are much smaller. All in all, we had a nice stay.

Tatiana was very welcoming, gave us a tour and explained to us where we all the amenities were and how they worked. The location was the best feature as it was in the middle of everything! We stayed during winter so it was nice that the apartment was warm after a whole day out in the cold and it has complete amenities. The stairs were a little narrow so it was quite a challenge to bring up our large bulky luggage but otherwise, everything was great!

What a great place to stay!! This is the perfect location in the heart of Rome....so easy to walk to all the important sites-Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, the Metro! The apartment was better equipped than a large villa I stayed at in Toscano. I would definitely book this apartment my next time in Rome. Grazie mille!

Lindsey T. - 14/05/2018

The location is perfect! We were a family of 5 adults and a 2 year old and we had a great stay here. We were all comfortable and we loved the outdoor terrace! It was so easy to get to all of the big sightseeing locations and also close to some great shopping and easy to get a taxi. We loved the old charm and unique decor the apartment offered! This was our first stop in Itay and we were greeted so warmly by our host.

We, a family of five, had a wonderful stay here. It's slightly kooky and has plenty of room, with the sofa bed. It's not luxurious and the kitchen is tiny, but perfectly adequate (who comes to Rome to cook?) The location is so ideal - five minutes east to the Trevi Fountain, five minutes west to the the Pantheon. Everywhere you need to go is easily walked to from here and, even though you are smack bang in the middle of Rome, it's a quiet place to stay. Would thoroughly recommend this apartment to anybody and Charme Holidays, who manage the property, are lovely to deal with. Do it!

Charming little apartment with a perfect location. We walked everywhere in Rome from the apartment. Just the charm and old world feel we were looking for. Carolina, who met us, was very personable and showed us everything we needed. The kids loved the multiple levels and the outdoor space. We would definitely recommend and stay here again. Thanks

Fully equipped apartment with nice patio and located in the neighborhood of the Pantheon!

Great location, cute, quaint apartment Everything was great! Prompt communication and easy check-in and check-out. Would definitely stay here again!

Also von a bis z sehr empfehlenswert!

Great apartment, great location! You will not find a better location for your Rome visit! Centrally located and walk-able to all major sites. Carolina was very helpful and flexible in meeting us at the apartment and recommending local restaurants. The apartment itself is quirky and charming although the kitchen and floor tiles could use an update. Also, the flight of stairs to the apartment is steep and the staircase to the master suite is a steep and narrow spiral staircase. We didn't have a problem with this, but I could see where it could be an issue if you have mobility issues and weren't aware of this. All in all, I'd recommend this apartment! Thanks again, Carolina!

Great historic place in a perfect location Two couples and one teen son stayed in early November. The location was just perfect to walk to most things or grab a bus for further sites. The building seems to be historic and sits on a small piazza right by a mall, quaint shopping, and all kinds of small restaurants and gelato/sweets shops. It was amazingly quiet thanks to the room windows opening to a central courtyard. Sleeping was comfortable for all. It is not modernized much, so if you don’t find quirky old spaces to be charming, you probably need to either pay much more in the same area or pick a different, less central, place. I’ll take this place every time. Carolina did a great job getting us settled and making sure things were going well. We’d stay here again for sure.

Many Highs, One Low We are two senior couples on our 4th trip to Rome in 5 years. The highs have been noted by other visitors relating to great location, useful terrace, outstanding helpfulness of rental agent Carolina, etc. The only negative for us was the unreliability of the wifi. It was very spotty despite Carolina coming to the apartment several times to get us reconnected. And the password is 20 characters long-very annoying! (Which is the provider's fault, not the rental agents.)
